His Knightess, Newcomer

She knew she had someone to count on.

And that would be no other than Meta Knight himself.

                                       •                                           •                                             •

You looked about your cabin as you sat at the edge of your small, built-in bed.  Studying the different articles in your room, you glanced from item-to-item, wall-to-wall. The most obvious items in your room was a stationary wooden desk and a chair of mahogany tucked by the desk. The next thing that caught your eye was the clock that sat on your desk, a little wooden clock that read 8:20. It was night time, you knew this because a few hours before you had just finished eating dinner with Meta Knight and the crew. You had two lamps attached to the walls, opposite to each other.

But the only object that you continued keeping an eye on was the vase placed on the stationary desk. A couple of red roses adorned the vase, you could almost smell the faint smell of the flowers that were kept in that little glass vase. It held some sort of special meaning to you. Meta Knight had placed those roses in the vase special for you, respecting the fact that you are a lady and that you deserve the utmost respect. You smiled at the thought before standing up to make your way out of your cabin. As you closed the door on your way out, you heard a few voices coming from the right side of the corridor. You glanced over, curious as to who it could be.  But it wasn't until a few seconds later that you instantly recognized the voices.

Sword Knight and Blade Knight made their way over to you, and greeted you a good evening. You hadn't seen them at dinner tonight, and you wondered why. You considered asking,  but your thought had suddenly been interrupted by their request.

"Meta Knight has requested for you to meet with the rest of the crew in the dining hall at this time," Sword Knight informed.

"There's some mandatory meeting that's about to start, so you should come along with us," Blade Knight added.

You decided it was only reasonable to tag along with Sword and Blade. The three of you made your way through the maze of the ship to the dining hall, the clanks of armor echoing through the halls. Since the ship was very large, you had to be very careful with the directions you were taking. If you were in a case of a shipwreck, you might face the danger of getting lost in the many corridors and rooms of the battleship. It would be a terrible scenario to go through for a new crew member like yourself, knowing the fact that you've only been a part of the Meta-Knights for a solid week, and you barely knew your way around the Halberd. In fact, you suggested an idea to Meta Knight for placing maps in various places about the ship because of how ridiculously immense the Halberd was, but Meta Knight declined the suggestion. You wondered why.

Eventually, you had finally entered the dining hall, located on the second deck of the Halberd. This is where you ate meals with the crew. It is a rather small room, consisting of only three tables which four chairs sat per table. There were a few portholes that gave view of the world outside, but all that was outside was the base of where the Halberd was ported, under Castle Dedede. Lights illuminated the room, and the brightness reflected off of the armor of the knights that waited at the tables. These were the Meta Knights, a crew of knights just like you. Yes, you were a part of the Meta Knights, and you were proud of it. Although the crew can be a bit crazy and odd, you still recognized the fact that you belonged to the army in which Meta Knight had placed you into. You followed any order that was given to you by Sir Meta Knight. As strict as he was, you knew that somewhere, there had to be a very kind and gentle side to the masked knight. The roses are proof of that knowledge.

You sat at a table with Sword and Blade, while the other Meta Knights sat together at one table. Who knew what they would be talking about. The thought of asking the two knights that sat at your table  about where they had disappeared to during dinnertime came back to you again, but that thought was pushed away once again when Meta Knight had bursted through the door of the room. He made his way to the front of the room, eyes following him as he walked.

"Thank you all for arriving here on time," the blue-haired knight began. "I would like to share the plan in which we will all need to participate in early in the morning. To begin with, I've been quite disappointed in Dreamland's lazy lifestyle. I believe that King Dedede isn't a rightful ruler, nor does he really deserve the spot of being the king of Dreamland."

"Does that mean your goal is to basically take Dedede's rule?!"

"No, Axe Knight, the goal is to train Kirby."

Kirby? What did Kirby have to do with any of this?

"Yes, Kirby, the young star warrior, needs to be trained in order to become a successful Star Warrior. I had to think up a reasonable way to create a threat to Dreamland.  To do this, I told Waddle Doo my intentions, and I assume he told others about it too, maybe the news was brought to Kirby. When Kirby finally hears of it, he will immediately take off to find the source of the threat." Meta Knight paused, opening up his notebook that he had previously stowed away, and quickly scanned through a page on the notebook.

"I will now be presenting the plan. All of you are required to be on one deck, this way, Kirby will have to fight against each of you to get through. And don't you come close to thinking that he will skip you."

He threw out more of the plan, but you had suddenly caught yourself daydreaming as he spoke. You thought about Meta Knight a little more, the roses, the strictness that might be covering another side to him. You suddenly began developing an odd desire for him...

"(Y/N)!" You immediately blinked out of your fantasy, attention on Meta Knight who had called out to you.

"Yes, Sir Meta Knight?!"

"You looked like you were dozing off. Please pay attention when I am giving orders," Meta Knight said sharply before returning to his plan. You felt a sudden pierce in your chest, it was a wrenching feeling. The tone of his voice had you in a feeling of discouragement. The other knights looked at you for a moment before returning their attention to Meta Knight.

"You can all escape if you wish to do so, although I will be the last one on board, fighting Kirby until he retreats. Are you all clear on your orders?"

"Yes Sir!" the crew yelled in unison. You nodded, but you were honestly not all too sure on what your order was.

"Thank you. You are all dismissed now, please get your rest for the night. We will take flight in the early morning, so please awake and prepare for takeoff as soon as the lights flash on."

You and the other crew members stood out of your seats, and unlike the others, you tucked your chair in.

"Miss (Y/N), could you please speak with me for a moment?" Meta Knight's request caught you in a frozen feeling, and you turned yourself around stiffly. You were afraid, what does the Captain want to talk to you about?

"No doubt about it, you are surely uncertain with your orders that I gave you." Meta Knight locked his golden eyes onto you as you tried avoiding your eyes from his a couple of times.

"Is that true, (Y/N)?"

"Y-Yes, Sir Meta Knight!" You felt a shiver run through your body.

"I thought so. Here's my command that I'm giving to you. I want you to stay alert on F deck, the deck just right below your cabin. Kirby could come running at you at any moment, so keep your guard up. He will surely fight his way through. Use your sword against him, and don't be reluctant to show no mercy. As soon as he is finished fighting with you, retreat to the control room where everyone else will be located at. Do you understand?"

"I understand your command, Sir Meta Knight," you said, finally looking straight into his eyes, which felt nearly impossible.

"Good. You may now go rest for the night."

You nodded once, then headed out the door. Suddenly, the thought struck you-how do you get back to your cabin? It was your first time on the Halberd, and you were surely going to get lost unless you were guided.

"Um..Sir Meta Knight? I don't really know my way around here," you stuttered.

"Do you wish for me to guide you to your cabin?" Meta Knight insisted.

"Yes please!"

"Alright. Stay behind me."

Meta Knight led the way through the corridors and stairwells of the large ship. You recognized the way as soon as you had gotten to the deck where the cabins were located, so you decided to allow Meta Knight to stop where he was.

"Are you sure? Do you know where your cabin is located on this deck?"

You nodded, thanking the knight with great gratitude. The two of you wished each other a good night, and you parted from each other.

You stepped inside your cabin once again, and dressed into your night clothes. You slipped under the covers of your bed, laying your head on the pillow. The lights dimmed throughout the ship, and you knew this because the lights did just the same in your room. The last thing you did before you finally slept was stare at the roses once more. Shutting your eyes, you drifted into a deep sleep.

                                            •                                           •                                             •

Light broke the darkness of your sleep, and you had realized that this meant that you needed to get yourself ready for the day. You dressed yourself in your usual clothes, adding your armor to top it all off. You grabbed a hair tie and whipped your (H/C) hair up in a ponytail. You then proceeded to the deck below, walking down the flight of stairs that brought you to the deck that you were assigned to. F Deck was a noisy deck to be on during flight, it was a deck above the majority of the engines. You had realized this because the Halberd had already taken off, and you could hear the roaring of the engines and the shifting of the ship as you took your place in the metal platformed corridor.

It was a painfully long wait before you finally heard a voice from behind you. You turned around and spotted a small boy running your way. He was wearing green almost all over, and wielded a sword similar to your own. You quickly recognized the face-it was no other than Kirby himself. You drew your sword, gripping it on the hilt. Kirby took a stab towards you, and thinking rapidly, you dodged the attack that could've ended in fatality. Kirby grumbled under his breath, he wasn't going to give up there.  He swung his sword towards you, your sword clashing against his. You used your strength to push the sword and the boy back, preparing yourself for another attack.

"Sword Beam!" A bright blue projectile in the shape of a cutter zoomed its way towards you, in its way to slice you in half. You dived out of the way, allowing the Sword Beam to slice a path down the corridor. You turned back to where you had previously seen Kirby, but he was gone now. He had escaped. You needed to run back to the control room at this point.

The control room, how would you ever reach the room? You had no clue how to get there-not every deck had a stairwell leading to the deck above. Some just have hallways that lead different ways around. You were hopeless. You couldn't risk the chance.

So you stayed on the F Deck, waiting for something...someone...you weren't sure what was going to happen next. You wondered if you should go wait in your cabin, it wasn't like you needed to be anywhere if you can't even go to the control room. You made your way up the stairs that led to E Deck, and opened the door to your cabin. You threw yourself onto the bed and stared at the ceiling, waiting...waiting for what though?

Shutting your eyes, you left yourself in thought, putting yourself in an alternate reality. What would Meta Knight tell you when he realizes that you never came up to the control room like he commanded? You imagined the possible outcomes, Meta Knight yelling at you, perhaps he will punish you in some way. The thought made you feel terrible on he inside. You were still in the darkness as you thought and dreamt a little more.

Boom.

Crash.

You felt a large impact, a sudden shake in your cabin, followed by another enormous and loud crash. Suddenly, the whole ship had started to tilt to the side. Your felt yourself shifting in the direction, hearing items break in your room. You turned and saw the vase, broken in shards, the roses tossed onto the now crooked floor. You had no time to waste, you had to depart from the cabin. You felt bad about leaving the roses, but you had to escape.

It was slightly difficult to reach the door, and the shuttering and the tilt of the ship made it challenging to reach it. Eventually you got to it, and holding the handle, the door flew open. You climbed your way through the corridors, the faint sound of siren echoing through the halls as you crawled through. It was the signal that is used for telling all crew members to evacuate. Hurry...hurry through, but how would you find your way out?

The ship regained its balance, and now you felt an odd throbbing throughout the ship. What was happening? Was the ship back in the air? Or...

The sound of rushing waters filled your ears. The ship was sinking into the ocean.

Now you needed to run. Because the ship was in good balance, it was your chance to make your best guess to get to the main deck. The waters chased behind you as you hurriedly ran up flights of stairs and through hallways. You were on B Deck now, but you couldn't find a way up. You searched desperately. You checked every door, hoping that behind one of them was a stairwell that led to the main deck. And thankfully, at last, you opened a door that had a stairwell leading up. You swiftly ran up the stairs, and arrived at another door. But just as you were about to open it, you looked through the porthole built into the door. It was nothing but blue. Dark blue. It seemed to grow darker as seconds passed by. That's when the thought struck you-the whole battleship was submerged underwater.

If you waited there, the deeper the ship will get. You needed to escape, even if it meant swimming through extremely deep water. But before you did so, you took off your armor, piece by piece. If you were to swim with your armor, you would sink because of how heavy it was. You set the armor aside, took one last look at it, and held your breath as you opened the door. Water surged in, and you held onto the stair railing so you wouldn't fall back from all the pressure. Eventually, the water was no longer raging towards you, and that was when you finally started shredding through the ocean current. It was cold, yes, very cold. But you had to try your best to get to the surface. You swam, holding in your cheeks of air. It seemed so far up...so far away. As discouraged as you were, you had to keep going.

You couldn't keep in your air any longer. You started taking in water, the saltiness burning your throat. Your vision was blurring out...but you still swam. The surface wasn't all that far away.

Gasp.

You thought it was impossible. You coughed uncontrollably, gasping in between. The waves hit your face, making the situation even worse. You searched for any piece of debris that you could climb onto so that you could give yourself a break. And by such luck, a large crate was floating a distance away. It was somewhat far, but you figured a little swim over can guarantee safety. You swam to it, and clasped onto it, holding the block of wood tightly. Obviously, you didn't want to stay there forever. You wanted to shout for help.

"...Help..."

Your voice was hoarse. You wouldn't be able to get help with that quiet voice you have. You drifted in the waves with your crate, feeling the cold ripples rush against your body. A tear rolled down your cheek, you had no hope left. You drew your eyes closed, listening for a new sound. But all that ran through your ears was the creak of the wooden box and the gentle tides pushing along.

"(Y/N)? Is that you, (Y/N)?!"

Your eyes darted open. By natural instinct, you began to search for the source of the call. Where was the voice coming from? There's no lifeboats around...

You decided to look up into the evening sky, and your eyes widened as you saw a familiar blue-haired knight swooping down to you. He had two large bat-like wings that helped him glide through the dim night sky.

A coincidence that Sir Meta Knight just happened to find you there, he must've been looking for survivors. You were suddenly lifted from the crisp waves, winds brushing against you. Meta Knight was carrying you, bridal-style. The thought of him carrying you in such a way made your heart bounce. This was a completely new feeling to you now, why weren't you afraid? You felt...safe, comforted.

"Sir Meta Knight..."

"I knew there was a survivor out there somewhere." His face was illuminated by the moonlight, showing a sincere smile and eyes looking directly into yours. His glittering golden eyes sent a wave of chills throughout your body.

"I'm so sorry Sir Meta Knight! I didn't know how to get to the control room and-" You were stopped by the knight, hushing you quietly. Yes, this was a very different type of hush, it varied from the sharp hushes that he would always give to the crew.

"You don't need to be sorry. All that matters to me is your safety, nothing else."

You could feel your face warming up, and now you found it very difficult to look at Meta Knight straight in the eye. Instead, you turned your head, viewing the beautiful night sky that you were now drifting through in the arms of Sir Meta Knight. The stars painted the night sky in a shimmering fashion, and the moon shone at its brightest. Eventually, you found your arms wrapped around the neck of the winged knight, and surprisingly, Meta Knight showed no negative reaction to this. It took you a few seconds to realize that Meta Knight had brought himself even closer to you, because now you could feel his heartbeat patting up against yourself. You wanted to be in this moment forever...safe in the arms of your beloved knight.

"Keep a hold of me as I set you down, alright (Y/N)?"

Meta Knight carefully placed you onto a grassy surface, and like he had told you, your arms were still tightly grasped around his neck. After you made sure both of your feet were on the ground, you let go, watching as Meta Knight landed alongside with you. His wings stretched for a moment before tucking neatly onto his back. In a flash, he took out his cape from his shoulders where they draped, and without hesitation threw it around your shoulders courteously. Shockingly, it was incredibly warm and snug.  It shrouded over your shoulders and similar to Meta Knight, you wrapped yourself tightly in the comfortable cloth.

"Sir Meta Knight, thank you so much for rescuing me, I would've been long gone if you had never found me out there!" You gripped onto the cape a little tighter and watched as the respectful knight's face brightened.

"It is my pleasure, miss (Y/N). Oh, and do not be afraid to call me by just Meta Knight. I have given you my special permission to do so."

Your smile widened, and you gladly nodded in response.

"Say, miss (Y/N), would you be okay to sleep out here for the night? It is quite late and I have no idea where the crew retreated to..."

"That's fine by me, Meta Knight." Surely, a little night's rest in the outdoors shouldn't be all that bad.

"Good." Meta Knight hesitated at first, but then he drew out his hand and patiently waited for yours to reach onto his. You extended your arm out and laid your hand into his, latching your fingers between his gloved ones. This made your face heat up in the process, making you feel a bit upset by the fact that you were so embarrassed from little things like these. But it was certainly better than floating in the frigid depths of the ocean.

The two of you walked a distance before falling upon a rather settling spot. A tree was rooted near an edge of a cliff that gave a panoramic view of the glistening jeweled sky and the dark yet serene ocean. It was the ideal spot for the two of you, and so to get Meta Knight's attention, you tighten your clutch. The masked knight paused to turn and look at you with eyes of concern.

"What is it, miss (Y/N)?"

"Could we sleep...there?" You lifted your free hand and pointed your finger at the spot that you had almost left behind.

"Certainly. It looks like a rather pleasant spot."

You were bewildered that Meta Knight was still keeping a grasp of your hand as the both of you hiked over to the cliff.

The tree was where you and Meta Knight fell against for the night. Meta Knight sighed loudly, which caused you to look up at him. He placed his hands onto the mask which hid half of his facial features, shut his eyes closed, and slid it off. This put you into a state of awe, you had never expected to see the knight's true identity.

"Do not get too excited (Y/N), it's a rarity if I ever take off my mask. You're very lucky to see what's behind this mask as a neophyte in the crew."

"Really? So you're telling me that you never take off your mask? Why?"

"This mask shields my emotions from my enemies. Not to mention, but it also helps me to see with great clarity."

"I see..." You gazed at Meta Knight for a while, admiring the revealed silver eyes.

Somehow, you were not afraid to lean onto the knight. You rested your eyes, but when you opened them, you found your arms latched under Meta Knight's arms. The cape that was once wrapped around your shoulders now shrouded the two of you. To your surprise, Meta Knight's armor didn't seem to bother you the slightest. In fact, you were more than comfortable in this position. Meta Knight's face was close to yours now, so close that you could hear his gentle breathing. Once more, his heart pounded against you. This moment was everlasting, and you didn't want it to end.

"(Y/N)..." Meta Knight's mutters made you jump out of your thoughts and turn your attention to him.

"Yes, Meta Knight?" You trembled at the look that he gave you, a fading smile and lustrous pale eyes that shone into yours.

"I apologize for not staying behind to help you escape the Halberd. I should've known that a new crew member like you would never know what to do in a situation like that."

"It's okay. I'm sure all that matters right now is that I'm alive, right?" You giggled quietly to brighten the mood a little more, and hoped to see the knight's gentle smile once more. Surely enough, he did.

"Right..." Before you could say anything else, your face began burning as Meta Knight tenderly brushed his gloved hands against your face. You were a bit shy from this, fidgeting a bit from the sensational feeling of having your face being caressed by the man whom you have developed a passionate love for. You wanted to tell him...but you weren't so sure...

"Meta Knight?" You paused, thinking about what would happen if you admitted the truth...

"Yes?" Meta Knight's caressing had been put to a halt.

"...Nevermind." Shaking your head, you decided that maybe this isn't the best time to tell Meta Knight your feelings for him.

"Hm? You sure?" Meta Knight was puzzled by the sudden end of a new conversation.

"Yeah...I'll tell you later." You closed your eyes and leaned your head against the knight's chest. You listened to his heartbeat, a rather soothing and reassuring sound. You began to doze off, entering a night's sleep. You felt Meta Knight run his hands through your (H/C) hair, brushing it out smoothly. It certainly felt nice, and before you knew it, you were fast asleep.

And sometime during your sleep, you could've sworn you heard an 'I love you' slip out of the knight in a dull whisper...

My first one-shot reader insert X3 I'm quite proud of how this came out, and I plan on making more when I have time.

There might be another part to this, but im not too sure.
